Everything is already there

A short reflection in English to support our international dialogue. Creating out of nothingness first led us to the question 'Who Am I?' This second evening we talked a lot about nothingness: is it really nothingness or is everything already there? It made me think of Sartre's "Being and nothingness". Some of his thoughts:
Nothingness allows consciousness and freedom of human being, our being forces us to make choices, our choices are limiting our freedom, our choices are our intellectual freedom, we all are actors with specific roles and actions to fulfil our destiny. Our being pales before nothingness since consciousness is based more on spontaneity than on stable seriousness, so a person of a serious nature must then continuously struggle between:

• the conscious desire for peaceful self-fulfilment through physical constraints and social roles — as if living within a portrait one actively paints oneself.
• the more pure and raging spontaneity of being bordered by nothing, consciousness, of being instantaneously free to overturn one's roles, pulling up stakes, and striking out new paths.
